ANNUAL EVENTS
April
- Annual Trade Show and Community Fair, “Who’s Who in Business” in the Sebasticook Valley Community.
- March of Dimes and MS Walkathons, in Newport and Pittsfield.
- Memorial Day Parade, Salute our veterans by attending a celebration in one of the Valley towns.
- High Street Church Monthly Supper, held on the 2nd Friday of the month; through the summer.
June
- Annual Detroit Bluegrass Festival, hosted by the Detroit Snowmobile Club.
- Palmyra celebration, town of Palmyra.
- Sebasticook Valley Community Band Concerts, Tuesday outdoor
concerts. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the music
July
- 4th of July Each of the Sebasticook Valley Communities celebrates
in a unique way. Check local listings for each town.
- St. Albans Summerfest The town of St. Albans is host to this celebration the third Saturday in July.
- Central Maine Egg Festival. Visit Pittsfield during the fourth week of July and take part in the festivities . The week winds down with the Big Parade and fireworks on Saturday. Check www.pittsfield.org for more.
- The Bangor State Fair is also held in July. It’s a large family fair featuring a huge midway, livestock exhibits, crafts and live entertainment.
August
- Dexter’s Wild West Weekend where horses are the mode of travel in the downtown section. The first weekend in August.
- Athens Fair,. Small country fair with animal exhibits, crafts and midway. For info phone Donna Avery at (207) 654-2028 or Sylvia Judd at (207) 654-3265.Dover-Foxcroft, Harmony and Skowhegan.
- The Piscataquis Valley Fair . Dover-Foxcroft, ME. features a milking parlor with home-made ice cream, agricultural exhibits, crafts, midway and animal pulling events. For info phone Deanne Merrill at (207) 943-2650.
- Harmony Free Fair Aug 29-Sep 1 Harmony, ME. This is a small, licensed fair with rides, crafts, food, motor sports and animals. Fireworks Sunday evening and parade Monday morning. No admission fee. For info phone Mel Chadbourne at (207) 683-5873.
- The Skowhegan State Fair Skowhegan, ME. (at the State Fairgrounds at Madison Avenue aka Route 201-N) includes Grandstand shows, Quarter Horse and other Horse Shows and much more. For info contact Rebecca Turner at (207) 474-2947
- The American Folk Festival Aug 22-24. Bangor, ME. On the Bangor Waterfront; a celebration of multi-cultural traditional arts with music, dance, crafts, food and storytelling. For info phone (207) 992-2630.
September
- North Country Inter-Tribal Pow Wow Labor Day weekend in Newport. Tribes from the US and Canada take part in this cultural event.
- Quilt and Doll Show The High Street Church, Newport in September.
- Peak Leaf-Peeping Season.Take a driving tour of the Valley during the
the height of Fall foliage. Stop at one of our many orchards to enjoy the delicious fruits of the season.
November / December
- Crafts Fairs begin in November and go through December. Here you can get a head start on your Christmas shopping.
- Help those less fortunate by helping to prepare and serve a Thanksgiving Dinner.
- Welcome Santa at an area Tree Lighting Ceremony
January /February
- Hit the slopes or trails on your downhill or cross country skis.
- Snowmobile on one of the Sebasticook Valley’s groomed trails.
- Pine Tree Ride-In Snowmobile Parade held on the first weekend in February. Take part and drive your sled through the center of Newport.
- WinterFest Dexter, ME Snowmobile Radar Run. For more information call Roger Wyman at 924-5902. Snowmobile Parade. Prizes awarded to the top three places in three competition categories. Snow Sculpture Competitions. For more Festival information, call the Dexter Town Office at 924-7351 or visit the Town website at wwww.dextermaine.org.
- Annual David D. Merrill Memorial Sled Dog Challenge At the Big A Snowmobile Clubhouse Newport, ME, the last weekend in February.
Take a ride in a dog sled!
- Other outdoor winter activities include snowshoeing, ice skating and sledding.
- Friday Feb. 27, 2009 7 - 10 pm Country Music Show, at the Irving Tanning Community Center in Hartland Admission is by donation only for this event whose host will be the Maine Country Music Association Northern Chapter

The Sebasticook Valley Chamber of Commerce is a business organization of roughly 200 members in and around the Sebasticook Valley Area. We exist to serve not only local business but also the communities at large.
How do we do that?

*By offering educational seminars and special programs to our members;
*By developing and supporting economic development initiatives that improve the overall quality of life of the region.
