Etna is a rural community with a population of about 1012 people that is
fast becoming a popular home for commuters to neighboring Newport and
nearby Bangor. It's location along Route 2, with easy access to
Interstate 95, makes it an appealing way to escape the hustle and bustle
of larger communities and offer a scenic route across central Maine.

Recreational areas include Etna Pond, which is used mostly for canoeing
and fishing, as summer residences are few. Conant's Orchard is a "must
visit" in the fall for those families who enjoy an outing to pick their
own apples and pick up fresh cider. Camp Etna, a Spiritualists Camp has
been a fixture in the town for many years and still has a yearly
gathering of spiritualists. The town is also home to Hands of Hope
Thrift Store, which is located in the old Etna Furniture store building.

Etna shares its school system with Dixmont. The Etna/Dixmont School
serves grades K-8 while grades 9-12 attend Nokomis Regional High School
in Newport. The Etna Community Hall, that also houses the town office,
is available for use by all citizens of Etna and has been completely
renovated. The Community Hall houses also houses Etna's volunteer fire
department.

The town of Etna has big plans for a small community and is the perfect
place to relax and enjoy Maine "life the way it should be."
